What can be more ephemeral than a catalog?

Old Sears catalogs

Sears issued their catalog twice a year no matter what. The old one was useless and should have been tossed. I bet there are a lot of Sears catalogs in the world! As far as ephemera goes, they contain priceless information! You get to see what the latest tools were, what styles people wore, maybe even what they drove. Did Sear’s sell cars? The best part is seeing what they paid for everything! Great history in a throw-away format. If you want to know more about the Sears catalog, there is a website called the “Sears Archives”.

The first catalog was issued in 1888 – the last in 1993. Some libraries even carry copies of the old catalogs.
