THIS and THAT: Sheet Music Storage

“Without music, life would be a mistake” -Nietzsche

Every Musician and Sheet Music collector needs the perfect protection for their favorite sheet music collection. Whether its modern paper,  papyrus,  or parchment, here are two of the many great options from Bags Unlimited for your Sheet Music collection.

ARCHIVAL Sheet Music Storage Box
XSMS13101

  • 60 Point Archival Barrier Board
  • Drop-Front + Deep Lid
  • Metal Reinforced Corners
  • 10-1/2” x 13-1/4” x 2-3/4”
  • Made for small 9×12″ sheet music

These sheet music sleeves are the perfect accompaniment to the Archival Storage Box and are made from 1.5 mil Polypropylene. They have a resealable flap to keep the documents from slipping out during frequent handling.

Storing your sheet music collection in a drop front storage box you can pull out all your sheet music at once allowing you to thumb through them, or even lay them out on a table for sorting. These boxes are best stored flat and are capable of being stacked. Vertical storage of these however is not recommended.

ARCHIVAL Sheet Music Binder Box
X799-1112

  • 60 Point Archival tan Barrier Board
  • Acid-free, lignin-free and buffered
  • Holds 50 filled binder pages
  • Metal Reinforced Corners
  • 1-1/2″ plated steel ‘O’ Rings
  • Made for small 9×12″ sheet music

These Archival Binder Pages are made from 4 gauge crystal-clear polypropylene and are the perfect accompaniment to the Archival Binder Box.

Storing in a binder box allows for vertical or horizontal storage. The binder allows as easy way of flipping through your collection to find what you need without having to unload the whole collection. The Steel rings allow easy removal of each piece of sheet music while also maintaining the organization of your collection if you happen to arrange alphabetically.

Sheet music has a long and wonderful history. Protecting these musical treasures for future generations is one of the reasons we love these two options. They allow handling and viewing of the pieces as well as protecting them from damage which comes in many forms. Always keep your paper valuables away from moisture and humidity, and especially UV to prevent fading.

We also have many other options available like this 3 ring binder kit, but that falls into the ‘other thing’ category not covered in ‘This vs That’. Perhaps someday we’ll start a ‘this that and the other thing’ category. But for now, we hope the information presented here will help you decide what’s right for protecting your sheet music collection.

As Shakespeare once wrote, “If music be the food of love, play on…”
